Because Everyone

Deserves a Home

Located in Olathe, Colorado, Haven House fights homelessness one family at a time.

The only 24/7 transitional program south of Grand Junction

Haven House is a faith based organization that assists families and individuals in transitioning from homelessness to a self-sustaining lifestyle.

We are open 365 days a year, and families call this their “Temporary Home” for up to two years, or longer. This gives families the time they needed overcome barriers and make the changes needed to progress to self-sufficiency.

Many of the homeless we serve are in an endless cycle of poverty and homelessness.

Without constructive assistance, they lack the resources, support and education to break through the many barriers that keep them mired in this cycle. Few participants have any source of income when they are first accepted into the program. Our career development programs address this lack.

Many women come to Haven House who are fleeing domestic violence, and they need safety, security, hope, and time to heal deep wounds and acquire the resources needed to start a new life. Our transitional housing and parenting programs help families like these.

Annual surveys by the Montrose, CO School District show that between 150 and 200 children are homeless in Montrose county alone. The children of the homeless grow up in environments that are not conducive to healthy social and academic development and lack the support they need.

We have observed that homelessness is generational – without support these children are at a high risk of dropping out of school and becoming the next homeless generation. Our childhood and early childhood development programs were created in response to this dire need.

I want to congratulate you on the approach you have taken to moving families from poverty and homelessness into brighter futures.

During my 1.5 years at Haven House I had a moment to breathe and to find myself again. Upon leaving I was generously offered a contract to write grants (my profession) and to continue my relationship with the program which I happily accepted. I again have a home, am financially stable and working full time to support my family and contribute positively to our community.

I was volunteering at the Kitchen today because Jeremiah was out of town, the kids came in from HH and they behaved beautifully! We so enjoyed them, and they pitched in and cleared tables and wanted to help out!!
I got my “grandma fix” with the 1 year old baby, so precious! Please know you are all welcome any time!!
